House Manager

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, a national center for the production, presentation, development, and study of American Theater, seeks dynamic and dependable candidates for its House Management team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a structure conducive to providing the best in customer care for theater patrons and visitors.


  • Overseeing the Lobby and Theater areas prior to and during performances.
  • Assisting with the coordination of the Usher / Volunteer corps.
  • Handling transactions for our Gift Shop.
  • Assisting with accessibility programs including, but not limited to, Audio Describe, Assisted Listing Devices, Open Caption and Script Loan.
  • Assisting with any additional Front of House needs.
  • Filing evening reports at the close of each performance.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred; experience managing and training a large staff; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; exceptional customer service skills; proven ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects; strong computer skills; experience with Tessitura a plus; arts background particularly in Front of House preferred. Must be available nights and weekends (regular work week is minimum of 20 hours). Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and be able to carry at least 50lbs.

This position is full time. Benefits include vacation, medical and dental insurance, and 403(b) plan and life insurance/long term disability coverage upon eligibility.
