Scenic Carpenter

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theatre, a national center for the production, presentation, development, and study of the American Theatre, is accepting applications for the position of Scenic Carpenter.

The Scenic Carpenter fabricates scenery for productions, installs and tests scenic elements and equipment in the theater, and loads out scenery and equipment upon closing. This position reports to the Technical Director.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in safe operation of power tools, scenic carpentry, and theatrical rigging. Additional experience in tool maintenance, welding, CNC router operation, automated rigging control, deck automation, and hydraulics is desirable. Candidate must be comfortable working at heights and able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

This is a full-time seasonal position. Benefits include vacation pay, paid holidays, medical, vision, and dental insurance, and life insurance/long term disability coverage upon eligibility.
