Our programs educate students in the classroom, bring cutting-edge workshops to community organizations, invite younger, more diverse audiences to our theaters and train future artists and educators. As the community engages in Arena, we engage in the community.

Arena Stage’s Community Engagement Division presentsTHE VOICES OF NOW FESTIVAL

May 16-19, 2018

Join us for four nights of new plays written and performed by nine ensembles from the DC Metro area. Young artists, ages 11 to 18, will share their stories and raise important questions they have about their communities through an evening of original, autobiographical theater. This year’s plays examine topics including issues of gun violence, multi-cultural experience, self-image, and the experience of grief from losing a loved one.

Map Quest by the Glasgow World Ensemble
Alien/Nation by the Mentor Ensemble

Right of Way by the Robinson Secondary School Ensemble
Force of Nature by the Mead Ensemble
Piece of My Mind by the Wendt Center Ensemble
